Advanced Graphene Products is fulfilling an order for the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). This task will consist in the production of free-standing carbon foils based on graphene.
Carbon foils for CERN
The foils will be produced in the reactor for the production of large-size graphene. They will be created in the process of the thermal decomposition of carbon-carrying gases. Carbon foils will be used for obtaining the pure stream of protons in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
„This is our another cooperation with the European Organization for Nuclear Research. Right after the European Space Agency, this is the second international partner of a such a prestigious nature. We are really proud that we can cooperate with an institution which is known worldwide as the most innovative research-development centre” – commented Maciej Gałązka, the President of the Management Board of Advanced Graphene Products S.A.
AGP goes forward
In the recent months, Advanced Graphene Products has been developing dynamically. Apart from the order from the European Space Agency, the Company also implements the author’s project of the mass production of filament for 3D printers with graphene, and filaments from PLA and PGA plastics in a wide colour range. At the end of April, the Company signed an agreement with Nanosphere as part of which it will deliver graphene for the production of an innovative, anticorrosion, powder paint for the half-shaft manufacturer, NEAPCO Europe. It will be used in the drive transmission system elements of the renowned car manufacturers, among other things: BMW, Mini, Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Volkswagen and FORD.
“The agreement signed by us is a part of a more comprehensive project implemented by the manufacturer of drive half-shafts, NEAPCO Europe. Its objective was to implement a new half-shaft, intended for electric and hybrid vehicles, in production. A crucial element of this project was the improvement of anticorrosion properties and the reduction of the weight of this component, which was achieved, among other things, owing to the pioneer use of graphene for the production of paint covering the drive half-shafts. Our graphene met high quality expectations and it will be soon used in the process of producing half-shafts for the largest automotive combines. This is a contract which is really important to us. It is a long-term agreement which will provide us with a huge impulse for development” – said Maciej Gałązka, the President of the Management Board of Advanced Graphene Products S.A.
Graphene is something more than R&D projects
In 2010, Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov, from the University of Manchester, were awarded the Noble Prize for the isolation of graphene. The time between year 2010 and the current times was devoted to the devising of a graphene production method on an industrial scale, which, on the one hand, must be repeatable and standardised and, on the other hand, they must ensure the cost and supply effectiveness of the material. At present, we are at the stage of graphene numerous commercialisations.
„Graphene may be used in lots of applications. Graphene may be used for the improvement of various properties: the reduction of production costs, the reduction of the weight of the produced elements, shortening the production time or, for example, the improvement of resilience. I am convinced that the forthcoming future will bring in significantly more commercial implementations with the use of graphene in various industry branches” – said Maciej Gałązka, the President of the Management Board of Advanced Graphene Products S.A.

Advanced Graphene Products (AGP) is an innovative company which produces graphene and develops its applications. The Company is the producer of flake graphene and large-size graphene, with its own patented technology of production on liquid metal – HSMG®, which enables the Company to participate on the market of both known graphene forms. AGP is the only graphene producer in Poland, which, at the same time, has significant research and organisational resources enabling its commercialisation. The Company also conducts research-development works whose aim is to devise the prospective applications of graphene forms produced by the Company. The main application areas of flake graphene (GO – graphene oxide, rGO – reduced graphene oxygen) produced by AGP are carbon composites, epoxy resins, 3d filaments, paints, anti-corrosion coats or masterbatches.
The Company is also the only producer of graphene in the world in the HSMG technology, which ensures the best quality properties of large-size graphene, which may be used in the most demanding applications, e.g. in electronics, including: microprocessors, sensors and transistors.
The patents held by AGP cover both the method of producing graphene from liquid metal, and the method of separating graphene from the liquid moulding matrix.
Since 29 November 2021, the Company’s stocks are listed on the NewConnect market.
